Q: How do I know which riser mount to get?
A: For an AR, we generally recommend the .83" mount, since it puts the red dot at basically the exact same height of Mil-spec iron sights. That means if you have a front sight, the red dot will be just at the point of the sight post. This is called "absolute cowitness"
If you would like, you can get the 1" mount and it will sit a little higher than the iron sights. Now, iron sights will appear in the lower 1/3 of the red dot sight's window (lower 1/3 cowitness)
Either of these mounts will work, it's really personal preference. For most people, the .83" mount seems to be the right choice, and it's the most popular.
